ISD1820 3–5V Voice Recording and Playback Module with Microphone and 0.5W Speaker
Product Description
The ISD1820 Voice Recording and Playback Module is a compact audio recording board designed to add voice recording and playback functionality to Arduino, microcontroller, and DIY electronics projects.
Powered by the ISD1820 voice recording IC, this module allows you to record a single voice message of up to approximately 10 seconds and play it back whenever required. The recorded audio is stored in non-volatile analog memory, so the message remains saved even after the power supply is disconnected.
The board includes an onboard electret microphone, three push buttons for recording and playback, and jumper controls for loop playback and direct microphone monitoring. It can also be controlled using external digital signals from Arduino, ESP32, and other compatible microcontrollers.
This module is ideal for voice announcements, greeting systems, electronic toys, security alerts, DIY talking devices, and educational electronics projects.
Key Features
Voice Recording: Records a single voice message of up to approximately 10 seconds.
Voice Playback: Plays back the recorded message using onboard controls or external signals.
Non-Volatile Memory: Retains recorded audio when power is disconnected.
Onboard Microphone: Built-in electret microphone for voice recording.
Push-Button Control: Dedicated buttons for recording and playback.
Microcontroller Compatible: Can be controlled using Arduino and other compatible development boards.
Loop Playback: Supports repeated playback through the RPL jumper.
Direct Monitoring: FT jumper enables microphone-to-speaker feed-through.
Compact Design: Suitable for embedded projects and DIY electronic devices.

Important Notes
The recording duration is approximately 10 seconds and depends on the ISD1820 operating configuration.
The recording is retained without power because of the IC's non-volatile analog memory.
Use a compatible 8Ω speaker and check the board's speaker output connections before powering the module.
The 0.5W speaker specification should be verified against the actual supplied speaker.
Do not connect the speaker output directly to a microcontroller GPIO pin.
Check the module's pin labels and control logic before connecting it to Arduino, ESP32, or other development boards.
The FT jumper is intended for microphone feed-through operation, not normal stored-message playback.
